Impractical Jokers - Season 3

Impractical Jokers is an American hidden camera reality show with improvisational elements. Produced by NorthSouth Productions, Impractical Jokers premiered on truTV on December 15, 2011, starring the members of The Tenderloins: James "Murr" Murray, Brian "Q" Quinn, Sal Vulcano, and Joe Gatto. Starting with the tenth season, the series will be concurrently airing on TBS.

Impractical Jokers - Season 3

Impractical Jokers' tenth season premiered on February 9, 2023.[2] The series' tenth season features a rotating group of guest comedians instead of Gatto, who left the show halfway through Season 9.[3][4][5][6] A feature-length film was theatrically released on February 21, 2020.[7][8]

A typical episode is a series of competitive games of dares in which each cast member, or "joker", receives either a thumbs up or thumbs down for his performance. At the climax, the joker who tallied the most thumbs down is the loser and is thereby subjected to a "punishment". The games are contrived scenarios in which one joker is challenged to embarrass himself by engaging with unwitting members of the general public, receiving commands from the other jokers who are orchestrating and surveying the bizarre scenario from behind the scenes with covert surveillance equipment. The most common premise is that a joker will immediately lose a challenge if he refuses to follow any instructions given by the other three. Some games involve all four jokers competing at once to be the first to reach a stated goal.

The intro describes the show as "scenes of graphic stupidity among (four) lifelong friends who compete to embarrass each other." The games are loosely structured, relying heavily upon improvisation. The show's comedic themes range from witty dialogue to slapstick routines, with the reactions of both the jokers and the members of the public serving as punchlines.

On December 31, 2021, Joe Gatto announced on his Instagram that he would be leaving Impractical Jokers after nine seasons.[13][14] Shortly thereafter, Quinn, on behalf of Murray and Vulcano, sent well wishes for Gatto and announced that Impractical Jokers would continue working despite Gatto's absence in 2022.[15] Subsequently, Paste reported that TruTV and HBO Max had removed "several episodes featuring Gatto in compromising situations" from their platforms.[16] On February 14, 2022, the show announced that the season would proceed with a lineup of various celebrity guests.[3]

Impractical Jokers: Inside Jokes is a spin-off of Impractical Jokers in which episodes that have already aired are shown again with pop-up facts throughout, including behind-the-scenes stories and facts directly from the Jokers. The first episode of Impractical Jokers: Inside Jokes aired on July 14, 2016, following the mid-season British special.[43][44]

Impractical Jokers: Dinner Party is a spin-off of Impractical Jokers, in which the Jokers do a video group chat while eating dinner and having guests visit one or more participants. The spin-off was created in response to the COVID-19 pandemic in the United States that prevented Impractical Jokers episodes from being produced. The show's theme song is "Uzi (Pinky Ring)" by Wu-Tang Clan. The first episode of the series aired on May 21, 2020.[45] On August 5, 2020, the series was ordered 10 additional episodes and began airing on October 15, 2020. The first season ended on January 14, 2021. At the end of the episode, "Don't Stop Believin' " by Journey plays to commence the return of regular episodes.[46][47]

On March 7, 2018, truTV announced that Impractical Jokers was renewed for an eighth season and a feature-length film to begin development in spring 2018, directed by Chris Henchy and produced by Funny or Die. Production on the film began at the end of April 2018. A trailer was released on December 17, 2019, and the movie was released on February 21, 2020.[48][49][50]

Production on the third season of The Misery Index is set to begin this fall, with Jameela Jamil returning as host, along with the cast of Impractical Jokers as panelists. The second half of Season 2 is set to air on TBS in October.

Impractical Jokers has been cranking out episodes since 2011. Each episode of the series consists of a handful of challenges, which revolve around interacting with unknowing event participants or random passersby using improvisational pranks. What follows is a hilarious punishment for whichever Impractical Jokers cast member failed in most of the challenges. To date, there have been over 166 episodes of Impractical Jokers released on truTV, as well as a full-length feature film. Fortunately for fans of the series, Impractical Jokers was recently renewed for a tenth season, though announcements surrounding the tenth season were not without a shocking bit of unfortunate news.

Since the show's inception, it has starred a comedy troupe known as The Tenderloins. It comprises the hilarious foursome of James "Murr" Murray (Return to Return to Nuke 'Em High Volume 2, The Last Sharknado: It's About Time), Brian "Q" Quinn (The Misery Index, Star Trek: Picard), Sal Vulcano (Bones, 12 Monkeys), and Joe Gatto (Impractical Jokers Judging Joe, MacGyver). Unfortunately, this formidable foursome will enter the tenth season of their wildly popular television series sans a certain Staten Island stalwart. Citing personal issues, Joe Gatto has announced that he will not return in future seasons of the show.

More importantly, Joe Gatto was a close friend to the other jokers, as evidenced by the catty repertoire the four pranksters exhibit in interviews. He has known the other comedians on the show for many years, as they are all members of a comedy troupe known as The Tenderloins, which has been churning out hilarious content since the early 2000s. The three remaining jokers are not simply lost a fellow cast member: they are losing out on working with a close friend.

However, the impractical jokers are not averse to shaking up their tried and true formula, as evidenced by the combination of hidden camera and scripting content of their feature film, Impractical Jokers: The Movie. Though there might be some concern over the show's formula, which has worked for nearly two hundred episodes, being subject to a major overhaul, Impractical Jokers has proven capable of coming up with consistently entertaining challenges.

Additionally, it has been announced that in place of Joe Gatto, Impractical Jokers season ten will round out its challenges with a cadre of celebrity guest stars. Said celebrities include such names as Method Man (Power Book II: Ghost, Masters of the Universe: Revelation), Brooke Shields (Jane the Virgin, Law and Order: Special Victims Unit), Adam Pally (Sonic the Hedgehog 2, Happy Endings), David Cross (Arrested Development, Station Eleven), Rob Riggle (Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby, Holey Moley), and even Saturday Night Live's Colin Jost.

Of course, these celebrity guest stars will lack the same camaraderie as the three remaining impractical jokers enjoyed with longtime friend Joe Gatto. However, it will be interesting to see how they are put into action. While some of the less recognizable celebrities may be able to compete one-on-one with the remaining cast members in the show's games, which will round out the three-person cast and allow for sets of two to compete once again, some of the more famous actors appearing in season ten will likely be used as props in the season's newly invented challenges.

While everyone's disappointed to see the much-beloved Joe Gatto make his graceful exit from Impractical Jokers, fans of the show can find solace in the fact that the show isn't going anywhere anytime soon. Between whatever new and exciting challenges the remaining jokers can cook up and the addition of talented celebrity guests, season ten of Impractical Jokers promises to be just as hilarious as the seasons preceding it. Fans may have shed a tear at the loss of Joe Gatto, but they'll be crying tears of joy at the hilarious antics of the upcoming season.

The DVD release includes a lossy 2.0 channel Dolby Digital soundtrack on all 32 season three episodes. These lossy stereo soundtracks are nothing extraordinary, yet they deliver in nearly every aspect required of them, providing a fairly clean and clear audio presentation on each episode, never with any conflictions resulting from the activity sharing the two channels and never causing any dialogue which may be occurring simultaneously with other auditory elements to become distorted or rendered inaudible. Overall, these are capable 2.0 Dolby Digital soundtracks that hold up and deliver in every way required.

Set to officially return with all-new regular episodes on Thursday, June 16, Impractical Jokers is shaking things up for Season 9 following the exit of longtime friend and cast member Joe Gatto. In each episode, a new celebrity guest helps out the jokers in their latest challenges.

Alternatively, season 1 of Impractical Jokers is also streaming on Amazon Prime Video, DirecTV, HBO Max, Sling TV, Apple iTunes, Microsoft Store, Discovery Plus, Vudu, etc. If you are thinking about Impractical Jokers Netflix, only few episodes of the show are on Netflix.
